1. What is "ballroom dance", exactly?
"Ballroom dance" includes any dance you do while holding a partner. It's done to most popular and night club music. It consists of a multitude of different dances, ranging from the fast and lively swing, jive and disco hustle, to Latin-style dances such as the fun salsa, the merengue, the sensual bolero, rumba and playful cha cha, to traditional dances such as the romantic waltz, the soft but jazzy foxtrot and emotionally charged tango. Each has its own special brand of music. Some dances are simple and easy, some highly technical, but all involve dancing with someone to the rhythm of the music, and that's what makes ballroom dance unique.

2. How do people usually learn to dance?
Most people take private instruction and attend group classes. Private instruction is the fastest and most thorough way to learn. Group classes let you dance with different people and learn through repetition.

Also, people learn when they do it just for fun -- and Dance Charisma throws dance parties every Friday night.

3. How does Dance Charisma's system of teaching work?
We schedule private lessons throughout the week. Our normal hours are from 1 PM to 9 PM Monday through Friday, but we're open through the weekend by appointment.

Dance Charisma also holds group classes every week night. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, classes are from 7:30 to 8:15 PM. On Tuesday, classes are from 8:15 to 9:45 PM. On Thursday, class is from 8:15 to 9 PM. Different dances are regularly taught on different nights of the week, and we have beginner, advanced, and specialty classes. Check out our calendar section for current schedules!

Every Friday from 8:15 to 10:15 PM we throw a party! We turn the lights down and the music up, and our students and their guests get a chance to meet and mingle with other students and teachers, and put into practice what they've been working on. Dance Charisma has a beautiful dance floor with lots of room to dance (1700 square feet, no less ) to absolutely great music.

Dance Charisma also sponsors special events, such as "nights on the town", and encourages everyone who's interested to watch and even compete in local dance competitions.

4. Who comes to Dance Charisma?
Surprisingly, there's no one single type of person at Dance Charisma. Young, old, in between -- yuppies, casino workers, retirees, children -- singles, couples -- the only thing these people have in common is the desire to learn and have more fun.

5. How do I enroll?
It's so easy because the first lesson is free! Call 364-8700 to make an appointment for your complimentary lesson. Or, just drop by and have a look. We have programs starting at as little as $49.95.?

6. What do I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Preferably, thin-soled or leather-soled shoes are best, rather than athletic shoes, platforms, or shoes with very high heels.
